We are two friends, Paul and Tony, about to enter an adventure of a lifetime all in the name of raising money for Cancer Research. In May 2017 we will be embarking on the adventure called the SHITBOX RALLY. As the name suggests we have purchased our very own SHITBOX, a Volvo 240 station wagon, for under A$1000 and will be driving this jalopy from Adelaide, South Australia, to Cairns, north Queensland, a distance of around 3500klm.
A lot of us have been touched by cancer in some way over the years either directly, family or with friends. Raising money for cancer research through our involvement with the SHITBOX RALLY will be our contribution towards finding an end to this horrible disease.
For Paul, this is personal. His dad went through a fight with bowel cancer a few years back and lives with the daily challenges that surgery leaves with you. His Mum has had a long long struggle with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) going through many rounds of chemotherapy, blood tests, trial drugs and therapies.
Tony too has been touched by cancer, losing both his parents and two sisters to different cancers. He is a cancer survivor himself having had surgery and treatment including chemotherapy for thyroid, bladder and prostate cancers, and recently had two tumours removed from his bowel.
If we add to this friends we have lost or who are currently being treated for cancer, it demonstrates a very worthy cause to put our efforts into.
