Why have I decided to participate in the 2017 Shitbox Rally?
Well if you know me you know I like a challenge. The mere thought of driving a 1998 Hyundai Excel worth $200, across the outback of Australia, is one incredible experience that I think must be done. The Rally is the fun bit.The bigger challenge is raising much needed funds for the Cancer Council. My Father passed away in the mid 1990's with bowel cancer and I live with the risk of this happening to me and have annual checks to remove any potential suspect polyps.
It has taken me a long time to come to terms with my fathers death and I have never known what I could do to make a difference. The Cancer Council with your help can continue their research and support of families living with Cancer.
I have signed up Matt Burwood from Perth WA, to be my co pilot for the rally. We have never met and we do not know much about one another. Matt has done 2 Shitbox Rallies already and was keen to do it all again. Matt's enthusiasm is contagious and I am told he is a heap of fun to be around. I am sure that by rallies end we will know much more about each other and we will have some interesting conversations on our long drives together.
I intially aimed to raise $4000, but this goal was achieved just prior to Christmas so I have reset our goal to $7000. Please help us to help the Cancer Council, if like me, you have lost a family member to Cancer why not give a few dollars.
Matt and I will really appreciate your help but the families living with Cancer will appreciate more than us. Help research, help fight Cancer. Please donate now.
